Did you know that America lost 7 MILLION manufacturing jobs between 1980-2011? Many of these positions are middle class and have affected families across the country in an extremely negative way.
Mothers and fathers cannot put food on the table for their children or take them to soccer practice and most importantly, cannot provide the basic necessities for their children and themselves. A roof over their head, clean water, food and toiletries to name a few. Why did we lose all these manufacturing jobs? Because overseas factories exploit their workers, allowing them to earn pennies a day in unsafe working conditions and companies like Walmart and Target use these factories, thereby increasing their profits.
We here at Styliaque produce and manufacture all of our womens’ clothing, hats and scarves in AMERICA. In the heart of the fashion district of NYC is where we go to make the items you see on our website. (Although we don’t manufacture the handbags, we buy them from a local NYC small business and support only USA businesses). We have toured the factory where the cutters and sewers do their work. It is a clean, safe working environment where the workers can enjoy what they do. How often do you hear about factories in Bangladesh or in a small province of India collapsing and killing factory workers? Too often. You don’t hear these stories from American factories because of America’s strict and sound laws governing workers’ safety.
Prices of items made in the USA may be a bit more expensive, but guess what? The quality and lifetime of a garment made in America will far surpass the quality and lifetime of a garment made in China, Indonesia, Chile, etc. Would you rather buy one item at $100 or have to buy 10 items (because they tear, rip, break) at $30? Do the math. $100 paid once is far less than $30 paid 10 times! Supporting American factories by buying USA made products will save you a lot of money in the long-run!
We are proud to support the NYC factories and USA small businesses. It’s important to make and buy products in the USA for so many ethical, financial and quality reasons.
