What exactly is a “Styliaque” you may be asking. First off, it’s pronounced sty-lee-ack. A Styliaque, in short, is a very stylish person, particularly a stylish woman. One day it may be in Webster’s Dictionary, so you can tell all your friends you heard it here first. There’s much more to it, though.
Our tagline is “If a really smart person is a braniac, then a really stylish person must be a ‘styliaque‘. This sums it up pretty concisely. To add to that, a Styliaque is a confident, classy, personable, independent and yes, stylish woman. Think of the Bethenny Frankels, Blake Livelys and the Victoria Beckhams of the world. They’re beautiful, smart, successful and know what style vs. fashion is. You see, almost any woman can wear fashionable things. It’s the inner style they have that really says it all. Yves Saint Laurent said it best – “Fashions fade, style is eternal.” We couldn’t agree more.
So, how do you, our loyal reader, become one of these so called ‘Styliaques’? We’ll give you some ideas right here.
1) Wear all your clothing, accessories, EVERYTHING with confidence.
We know you won’t always feel confident, but there’s something about faking it that actually becomes reality after a short time. And don’t just follow trends blindly. Make sure clothing fits your specific body type.
2) Don’t let anyone tell you: NO!
This goes for office meetings, that idea you have, your jerk of a boss telling you what’s correct, the business you want to start. If you feel something in your gut, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. We are quite intuitive as women and we need to always remember we’re more often right than we are wrong when listening to our instincts.
3) Be as self sufficient as possible.
We’ve heard horror stories about women having to rely on a man, whether her husband or not, for things. They need to ask for money for groceries, for shopping, for entertainment. They can’t change a light bulb without someone’s help. Trust us, it’s not fun to be dependent and it usually doesn’t end well. A Styliaque does not need to rely on someone else for financial help or for chores. Start saving money if you haven’t started. Get a second job if you can. Any little thing you can do towards self-sufficiency is a great thing. You’ll be on your way to securing your status as a real Styliaque.
4) Give yourself YOU time.
We know life gets crazy with all the things you juggle – family, friends, work, appointments. Consider taking at least an hour a week to yourself. Whether you like getting massages, your nails and hair done or just relaxing at your favorite spot with a good book, you’ll be more relaxed than you realize which will help rejuvenate your mind, body and soul for the upcoming week. That’s what us Styliaques do. We’re successful, happy, relaxed and intelligent because we give ourselves enough time to do what we love to do. It’s not selfish – it’s necessary.
